Documentation and information relating to the Coranto news posting/CMS script
I have been involved with computers as a tool and as a hobby since 1982. My first Computer was a Commodore 64. At one point I had three Commodore systems and an IBM XT in use in our home.
I have been a SYSOP on dial-up BBSes and worked in the Commodore area on GEnie for about a year. I was a Q-Link user, which was a predecessor to AOL that served the Commodore computing community. I have also used CompuServe and Delphi. At one time I thought my 1200 BAUD modem was fast!
I was also active in a local Commodore user group (Midwest Commodore Users Group - MWCUG) as an officer and editor of their newsletter.
I have built all of my PCs since the IBM XT that was given to me. Currently my everyday system is running Windows XP Pro with an AMD Athlon 1700+ CPU, 1 GB of RAM, a VD burner, CDRW drive and 160 GB of hard disk space.
I have a second system that I built with used parts that I am using for learning about Linux. It has an ABIT KT7-Raid motherbboard with an AMD Athlon 900 MHz processor, 280 GB of hard drive space spread over three drives, a DVD burner, amd a CDRW. I have seven varieties of Linux installed. I use this for a testing/learning environment.
I started this site to contribute something back to the community that supports Coranto. Coranto is a free PERL script for posting news and managing content on web sites. I use Coranto and believe it is an excellent tool. There is no company that develops and distributes Coranto. All of the work is done by volunteers.
I am not a programmer, even though I will hack something simple from time to time. Recently I wrote some addons for Coranto that you will find on the downloads page. My contribution to the Coranto community is the downloads, documentation, and links to other resources you find here. The docs I write are as much for me as other users, I often refer back to them when returning to a project or concept. Sharing them may mean that someone else doesn't have to start from scratch. I have moved most of the documentation to the Coranto Docs Wiki. My hope is that others will want to contribute.
The idea of users supporting users was very much a part of my early involvement with computers. The exchange of information at user group meetings and later in online communities is how I was raised. So here is a place to expand your knowledge about Coranto. I hope that you find it useful.

For the record:
I am not a member of 'The Coranto Group' or any other Coranto group. I do not and do not wish to hold the copyright on the news script known as Coranto or any successor script derived from Coranto, but known by a different name.
What this means:
I am a Coranto user who is active in the support community and will continue to be in the foreseeable future. The opinions expressed in any of my posts reflect only my personal beliefs, not those of any other person or group.
